Teneo Helped Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service reduce bandwidth costs and increase application performance

Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service (DFRS) was facing challenges with slow application performance, network latency, and high bandwidth costs during a centralization project using Microsoft SharePoint. Their users were frustrated, and as a public sector organization, they needed to maximize IT efficiency while minimizing expenditures. To address this, they partnered with vendor Teneo to implement Riverbed’s SteelHead WAN optimization solution.

Teneo deployed Riverbed SteelHead appliances across all DFRS sites. This solution significantly optimized data transfer, achieving a 70% total data reduction and a 93% peak data reduction, which increased capacity by 3.3 times. The implementation eliminated user frustration by making the intranet nearly as responsive at remote stations as at headquarters, and it reduced the need for costly bandwidth upgrades, resulting in a more productive and cost-effective IT environment.
