Square Enix - Customer Case Study

Square Enix, the global game publisher behind titles like DRAGON QUEST and FINAL FANTASY, needed a better way to transfer large ROM and localisation data between development sites in Japan, North America, and Europe. These daily transfers were taking about half a day over their 100Mbps Internet VPN, creating network stress and a one-day lag in development cycles. Teneo supported Square Enix in evaluating WAN optimisation options, including Riverbed SteelHead appliances.

Teneo helped Square Enix deploy Riverbed SteelHead WAN Optimisation technology, which cut international transfer times by more than 90% to about one hour. The solution eliminated data lag, improved operational efficiency, and made the WAN connection more reliable and better utilised. Based on these results, Square Enix later expanded SteelHead to major locations in Japan and began considering further deployment in China and for mobile workers.
