Case Study: Willis Group achieves $30M IT consolidation savings with Teneo's Riverbed WAN optimisation solution

A Teneo Case Study

Preview of the Willis Group Case Study

Riverbed’s SteelHead WAN Optimisation technology enables IT consolidation at global insurance company

Willis Group, a leading global insurance broker, was struggling with a costly, highly distributed IT environment across more than 300 offices in 100 countries. Employees had difficulty accessing centralized applications and information, especially from bandwidth-constrained international locations, and the company wanted to reduce the overhead of maintaining duplicate infrastructure. Teneo is listed as the vendor name for this case study, though the solution described was Riverbed’s SteelHead WAN Optimization technology.

Teneo’s solution, as described in the case study, was the deployment of Riverbed SteelHead appliances globally, with SteelHead Interceptors in the main data center to support scalable, resilient clustering. The results included LAN-like application performance over the WAN, peak data reduction of 82%, a 4.2x capacity increase, consolidation of two data centers into one, and removal of servers from many offices. Willis projected savings of $30 million over five years, while also improving global access to information and collaboration.
