Mott MacDonald, a global management, engineering and development consultancy, needed a better way to support collaboration across a geographically dispersed workforce. Its mix of MPLS and IP/VPN networks, locally stored project data, and increasingly large files and applications were creating WAN pressure, slow performance, and version-control challenges. Teneo worked with Mott MacDonald to evaluate WAN optimization options, including Riverbed SteelHead and related management tools.

Teneo implemented Riverbed SteelHead WAN optimization across nearly 100 sites, managed through Riverbed SteelCentral Controller, as part of a managed service. The result was faster application performance, with searches 3x faster and file transfers 4x faster on average, and up to 10x faster between the UK and Hong Kong. Mott MacDonald also cut bandwidth use by 50%, took 40 terabytes a month off the network, improved productivity, simplified IT management, and strengthened its move toward a hybrid enterprise.
