Essex County Fire & Rescue needed a communications structure with 100% uptime to support its Incident Command Units during major emergencies. Working with vendor Teneo, the service looked at how Talari networking technology could improve the reliability of mobile communications for its emergency response operations, which had previously depended on slow, patchy 3G, WiFi, and expensive satellite links.

Teneo implemented Talari units in each Incident Command Unit, with a spare device held by the ICT team for resilience. The solution routed traffic across WiFi, multiple 3G modems, and satellite as needed, making links far more reliable and significantly faster, while reducing reliance on costly satellite connections and providing built-in disaster recovery if one connection failed.
