A Tenable Networks Case Study
Public Utility District #1 of Whatcom County (WPUD) is a countywide electric and water utility that supplies about 27 MW and 5.4 billion gallons of water annually. As WPUD modernized substations and water plants, increased IT/OT connectivity raised the risk of remote, local and insider cyberattacks and created a need for full visibility into controller changes and continuous packet capture—limitations that their previous open-source tools couldn’t address.
WPUD deployed Tenable.ot to provide automated asset tracking, continuous packet capture, policy-based detection and a detailed audit trail. The solution delivered complete visibility and version control of controllers, faster troubleshooting through continuous network captures, fewer false alerts via configurable policies, and stronger readiness against threats—giving engineers clearer control and greater peace of mind.
