A Tenable Networks Case Study
Starwood Vacation Ownership (SVO), a Florida-based subsidiary of Starwood Hotels & Resorts operating luxury vacation ownership resorts across 22 locations and more than 5,000 devices, faced the dual challenge of protecting customer data and meeting PCI DSS requirements while modernizing its IT infrastructure. Processing nearly six million credit card transactions annually and handling tens of millions of daily log files, SVO needed a cost-effective way to prioritize vulnerabilities, consolidate siloed logs, and integrate security with new network technologies.
SVO deployed Tenable SecurityCenter, the Nessus vulnerability scanner, and the Tenable Log Correlation Engine, built an internal vulnerability-rating system and customized scans to prioritize remediation, and consolidated logs into a single repository for real-time visibility and reporting. The new process streamlined PCI compliance (saving about 20 hours per month), ensured all PCI requirements were met, turned existing log data into actionable network intelligence, and set the team up to expand the deployment into back-office and cloud environments.
