Orica reduces critical and high AD exposures with Tenable Networks

Orica, a global commercial explosives provider, faced significant security challenges within its Active Directory infrastructure. While critical to operations, AD was managed with a focus on availability rather than security, leading to visibility gaps and potential vulnerabilities that could compromise accounts and domains. The in-house Security Operations Centre lacked insight into activities occurring within AD itself. To address this, Orica partnered with vendor Tenable Networks and implemented their Tenable.ad solution for identity security posture management.

Tenable Networks provided the solution by first conducting a proof of concept that revealed critical weaknesses and empowered Orica's IT team with the expertise to remediate issues. The non-intrusive, agentless Tenable.ad solution was deployed for continuous monitoring and real-time tracking of the directory. It integrated alerts into Orica's Security Operations Centre, providing high-confidence detection of suspicious activity. The results included a reduction in critical and high exposures within AD, the generation of actionable alerts for the SOC, and the establishment of monthly security reporting on AD as part of IT's key performance indicators.
