A Tenable Networks Case Study
MUFG Bank, Ltd., a global financial institution with over 30,000 employees and 519 domestic and 107 overseas branches, needed to strengthen protection of customer information by increasing the frequency and consistency of vulnerability management. Relying on manual scans left the bank at risk from fast-exploited vulnerabilities and misconfigurations (such as exposed VPNs and RDP), so MUFG set a goal to automate and centralize vulnerability scanning and compliance checks to reduce exposure and improve internal defenses.
MUFG selected Tenable.io for its wide vulnerability coverage, built-in compliance checks, centralized dashboard and local support, running a proof of concept in late 2019 and moving to production in November 2020. Using cloud and on-prem scanners, the deployment established the start of automated, centralized vulnerability management, enabled safer, higher-frequency assessments, and created a foundation for expanded automation of compliance checks—strengthening the bank’s defenses and helping preserve customer trust.
