Case Study: Orica achieves continuous Active Directory security and reduced critical exposures with Tenable Networks

A Tenable Networks Case Study

Preview of the Orica Case Study

Harnessing Innovation for Active Directory Security

Orica, founded in 1874 and headquartered in Australia, is the world’s largest supplier of commercial explosives and blasting systems, serving customers in 100+ countries with ~11,500 employees. Although Active Directory (AD) was critical to operations, it was managed primarily for availability rather than security, creating control gaps, limited SOC visibility into AD activity, and a shortage of AD-specific remediation expertise.

A Tenable.ad proof-of-concept exposed risky AD configurations and enabled agentless, real‑time monitoring with guided remediation steps; alerts were integrated into the SOC and management gained ongoing visibility into AD posture. As a result Orica reduced the number of critical/high AD exposures, now receives Trailflow alerts for SOC actioning, and includes monthly AD security reporting in IT KPIs.
