A Tenable Networks Case Study
Clemson University is a major land‑grant research university with nearly 20,000 students and responsibility for protecting sensitive student, faculty and state medical data across a network of more than 80,000 registered devices. A small IT security team faced mounting log data, slow, multi‑day audits and a need to separate duties from system administrators while meeting strict compliance requirements (PCI, HIPAA) and reducing costs.
Clemson implemented Tenable’s SecurityCenter, Nessus and Log Correlation Engine, built a centralized, limited‑access log repository and automated 30‑day vulnerability scans and patch reporting. The integrated, real‑time correlation and single‑console view halved audit time (now often same‑day), reduced administrative overhead, improved visibility and responsiveness, and freed staff to focus on higher‑priority projects while keeping the network and compliance posture stronger and more proactive.
