Case Study: ACME achieves scalable, low-latency agent-based vulnerability scanning with Tenable Networks (Nessus Agents/Tenable.io)

A Tenable Networks Case Study

ACME - Customer Case Study

ACME operated a single Tenable SecurityCenter instance managing 40 scanners to run monthly network vulnerability assessments across about 1,200 stores. They wanted to move to host-based scanning with Nessus Agents to cover roughly 70,000 assets, gain deeper asset-level data, reduce network latency from remote scans, and enable more frequent assessments.

ACME deployed a hybrid model: Tenable.io for Nessus Agent operations and automatic at-scale data collection, and their existing SecurityCenter for advanced analytics and unified reporting by importing agent scan results. This split into Operational (Tenable.io) and Reporting (SecurityCenter) tiers allowed scalable agent scanning without additional on‑prem hardware, reduced network impact, and delivered more detailed, frequently updated vulnerability insights through centralized reporting.
