Deferred Payments and Car Data Management at Turo

Turo, the car-sharing marketplace, needed a reliable way to handle two time-sensitive operational challenges: deferring rental payments until the start of a reservation and keeping its vehicle catalog accurate by regularly importing fast-changing car data from multiple providers. Temporal Technologies’ Temporal platform was used to help manage these long-running, scheduled workflows with notifications and error handling.

Using Temporal Technologies, Turo implemented durable workflows to trigger payments at the right time and to distribute car-data import jobs across application instances, with monitoring through the Temporal UI. The result was more reliable and efficient processing of scheduled payments and data imports, better visibility into workflow status, and improved scalability for Turo’s payments infrastructure and vehicle catalog operations.
