WineDirect Fulfillment cuts CO2e by 41.9% with TemperPack

WineDirect Fulfillment, a third-party logistics provider for hundreds of wineries, faced a significant challenge as consumer demand for sustainable packaging intensified and new regulations like California's SB 54 loomed. Their previous expanded polystyrene (EPS) wine shippers were largely unrecyclable, leading to landfill waste and threats from wine club members to cancel subscriptions. They needed a curbside recyclable cold-chain solution that performed thermally without disrupting operations, which led them to partner with TemperPack.

TemperPack implemented its ClimaCell® curbside recyclable thermal liners as the core of a new solution called EcoCool. This switch resulted in WineDirect Fulfillment helping its winery partners achieve SB 54 compliance, avoid generating 306 metric tons of CO2e, and reduce emissions by an average of 41.9% per box. The solution also displaced over 43,000 cubic feet of single-use plastic and provided a more premium, sustainable unboxing experience for end consumers.
