Silpo launches cloud OSM services in 5 months with TEMABIT Software Development

Silpo, a leading retail chain, faced a challenge with its internal geolocation systems. Different departments used separate, limited databases for address data, leading to discrepancies and inefficient search options. To unify its geopositioning, which is critical for its e-commerce service, Silpo partnered with TEMABIT Software Development to implement a solution based on the open-source OpenStreetMap (OSM) ecosystem.

TEMABIT adapted and migrated the various OSM services to an AWS cloud environment, overcoming challenges like buggy code and stateless services. After five months, the new centralized system was launched, providing all departments with automatic access to reliable, up-to-date geo information. The solution resulted in higher address search accuracy, especially for recently renamed streets, and provided the benefits of cloud scalability, flexibility, and high availability.
