Shaw Communications Inc., covering over 12,000 non‑union employees, needed to redesign and roll out a new CHOICES health benefits program that would move beyond print and in‑person communication. With a dispersed, tech‑savvy workforce, Shaw wanted employees to understand their options, become more health‑aware, and make informed benefit selections.
Shaw partnered with Morneau Shepell to launch the Integrated Portal (Shawbenefits.ca) and a responsive transition site, using an online Health Risk Assessment (with incentives), decision‑support tools, and a mobile‑friendly education campaign. The rollout drove strong engagement and outcomes: 93% completed the HRA, 97% completed the first online enrollment, the transition site saw 45,000 visits (~4 per person), 80% found the portal valuable, and 86% felt they had enough information to decide—along with increased EFAP awareness and better fit between employee needs and benefit choices.
