The Indian Head Casino, operated by the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, needed a modern network infrastructure for its casino and travel plaza facilities. Their challenge was to find a solution that would offer better security, improved reliability, and easier operations within their limited space. They partnered with vendor Tellabs to implement a Tellabs Optical LAN (OLAN) solution.
Tellabs implemented a Passive Optical LAN, which centralized network management and used fiber cabling. This solution provided a smaller equipment footprint, a significant reduction in points of network vulnerability, and improved reliability through equipment redundancy. The Indian Head Casino IT staff reported a 60-70% reduction in the number of switches they had to manage and an 80% reduction in copper cabling. Tellabs' solution positioned the customer at the forefront of technology with a more secure and easily managed network.
