Wigersma & Sikkema, a Dutch gas meter manufacturer, faced the challenge of enabling quick, safe, and reliable connectivity for gas meters to transfer consumption data. To meet the growing industry demand for cellular communication's reliability and ubiquity, they chose to integrate a cellular IoT module from Telit into their new UNICOM 300 modem and data logger.

The solution implemented the Telit LE910EU1 module, which provides reliable and energy-efficient operation on 2G, 4G, and CSD networks. This Telit module allowed for a single product to address diverse market needs without requiring multiple versions. The resulting battery-operated UNICOM 300 can work for 15 years without a battery replacement and is certified for use in hazardous areas. Since its launch, thousands of these devices have been deployed and are praised by operators for easy installation and dependable connectivity.
