Case Study: SIAP+MICROS achieves ultralow-power hydrometeorological monitoring with Telit Cinterion cellular IoT

A Telit Case Study

Siap+micros powers 4-year ultralow-power hydrometeorological monitoring with Telit

The customer Siap+micros, a company specializing in meteorological and hydrological monitoring systems, needed to develop an affordable, ultralow-power device that combined data acquisition and cellular communication in one unit for use in hard-to-reach locations. Their challenge was creating a high-performing, compact data logger with minimal power consumption for monitoring water-related data.

The solution from vendor Telit involved using Telit Cinterion cellular LPWA modules and the IoT AppZone embedded software environment to create the nanoSUM device. This resulted in a programmable 4G data logger with long battery life and reliable connectivity. The measurable impact included a scalable system that cut development time and costs, exemplified by enabling continuous groundwater monitoring for the Tuscany region, allowing authorities to respond more swiftly with real-time data.
