A TeleTracking Case Study
Regions Hospital, a 454-bed trauma center, faced a significant patient flow challenge due to the underutilization of its transport staff. The inefficiency of the 27 transporters, who were often inactive and waiting in break rooms, rendered the dispatching logic from their TeleTracking system ineffective, creating a major operational bottleneck.
TeleTracking addressed this by helping reconfigure its TransportTracking software to fit the hospital's layout and by supporting a new operational strategy. This included setting a higher productivity standard, reassigning staff to peak demand periods, and giving transporters an additional role as hospital ambassadors. The results were substantial: with five fewer FTEs, the hospital completed 50,000 more transports annually, increased discharge support from 23% to 65%, and reduced average job completion times from 20 to 13.5 minutes.
