Van Buren First Assembly of God Streams Services Live to Web Audiences Using Wirecast

Van Buren First Assembly of God (VBFA) is a medium-sized church in Van Buren, Arkansas that broadcasts services across much of Arkansas and into Oklahoma and Missouri. When they began streaming online, their hardware switcher and Windows Media encoder setup lacked flexibility — they needed the ability to stream and record simultaneously, overlay video files with full transparency (not just static images), and quickly update lower-third text.

In November 2008 VBFA adopted Wirecast, which let them stream live while recording, overlay transparent video files, and easily change lower thirds; they now broadcast three times a week to their website, YouTube and Vimeo. The solution proved cost-effective and easy to train volunteers on, extended outreach to remote or homebound members and potential visitors, and reaches about 400 viewers per service.
