Technicolor, together with partners Telestream and Vivesta, upgraded the Dutch public broadcasters’ Catch-up TV workflow to meet new customer demands for near‑instant VOD publishing. The challenge was to redesign the capture and transcoding architecture so that 95% of broadcast content would be available as VOD within 10 minutes of airtime, requiring the capture/transcode stage to complete in just 2–3 minutes.

The team implemented a fully automated solution combining Telestream Pipeline capture and FlipFactory transcoding with Vivesta’s MediaFlow automation and integration into broadcaster playout and metadata systems for copyright checks. The system captures three national channels, transcodes concurrently to multiple web formats, and delivers to outlets including Uitzending Gemist. Over six months about 216,000 files (~400/day) were processed, meeting the 10‑minute requirement and achieving a 99.78% content delivery success rate.
