Small Congregation Uses Wirecast Pro and Matrox VS4 Live Streaming Technology

Phillips Street Church of Christ, a small 140-person congregation in Dyersburg, Tennessee, had streamed services for years but was limited by an aging SD-based setup and Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder that produced dropped frames and no HD output. With a modest upgrade budget and a need for a turnkey, easy-to-use solution that volunteers could run (and that could be portable for off-site broadcasts), the church sought a reliable way to improve production quality and viewer experience.

They selected 1Beyond’s StreamMachine, built around Telestream Wirecast Pro and the Matrox VS4 four-channel SDI capture card, enabling affordable multi-camera HD streaming and ISO recording. The system delivered 720p live streams to a Wowza server, simultaneous stream-quality and ISO recordings for post-production, and quick deployment and training (operational in under eight weeks and simple enough for volunteers, including a 12-year-old, to run). The result was noticeably higher-quality, more reliable broadcasts, faster post-production workflows, expanded reach (including viewers overseas), and greater portability for mobile broadcasts.
