Outdoor Channel Implements New Digital Workflow with Telestream Systems

Outdoor Channel, a leading U.S. outdoor-television network, was struggling with pockets of inefficiency during its move from tape to file-based workflows. The company was paying for third‑party encoding for 10–15 shows a week, needed multi-department transcoding (including .LXF conversions for editing, web/VOD and international delivery), and still relied on slow tape capture, archival and Blu‑ray dubbing processes despite a 212 TB APACE storage and PostMAM system.

Working with partner IEEI, Outdoor Channel deployed Telestream Vantage (dual redundant servers) and Pipeline HD Dual to bring encoding and transcoding in‑house and integrate with APACE and Harris systems. The solution enabled simultaneous HD/SD capture, automated workflow processing and Blu‑ray authoring, saving $4,000–5,000 per month, eliminating manual re‑ingest tasks (48 files saved 20 hours in one week), reducing tape maintenance and delivering faster, more reliable distribution for domestic and international needs.
