Case Study: Opsomai achieves expanded format support and scalable cloud transcoding with Telestream Episode Engine

A Telestream Case Study

Preview of the Opsomai Case Study

Opsomai integrates Episode Engine into transcoding module and cloud services

Opsomai, maker of the Opsis Media asset-management platform, needed to quickly upgrade its transcoding module to support professional formats (Apple ProRes, DNxHD, Avid/Final Cut Pro files, JPEG 2000) and more complex output settings while preserving its clustering and cloud-hosting capabilities for clients such as GDF SUEZ and Gaumont. Customers required broad format acceptance, higher-quality encodes, and seamless integration with Opsis Media Workflow Manager.

Opsomai integrated Telestream’s Episode Engine, whose XML-based settings and command-line interface made integration fast and scalable across clustered servers and the cloud. Episode added wide format support, high-quality filters, unlimited batch and parallel encoding, and automated workflows—enabling Opsis Media to produce higher-quality, single-step outputs (e.g., MPEG-2 files for Apple iTunes) and reliably transcode large-scale submissions like festival entries.
