A Telestream Case Study
NRK, Norway’s national broadcaster with 19 regional centres, needed to modernize its file-based workflows to handle frequent format, codec and wrapper conversions, ingest external content into a house standard, and deliver to multiple devices. Having outgrown Telestream FlipFactory, NRK required higher productivity, simplified automation and the ability to add processes—such as platform-specific graphics insertion and rights-driven content replacement—into the same transcoding workflows.
Working with distributor Video4 and Telestream, NRK deployed the Vantage platform with Lightspeed GPU-accelerated servers across all 19 sites (47 Vantage licenses, 20 on Lightspeed). The system runs about 70 active workflows and routinely processes up to 700 encodes per day (peaks to ~1,500), creates five adaptive-bitrate versions within 1.5× runtime, and now supports high-quality software HD/SD conversion. The result is faster, higher-quality, highly automated transcoding with integrated graphics and rights handling, and a simpler, more productive operational model.
