Munzing Media Uses Wirecast to Stream High School Sports on Maine Today Media Websites

Munzing Media, founded by teacher/coach Robert Munzing, produces live streams of Maine high school sports for Maine Today Media websites (Portland Press Herald, Kennebec Journal, Morning Sentinel). The core challenge was delivering consistent, broadcast-quality HD coverage from a wide variety of gyms and fields with a very small crew and a limited budget, while also integrating sponsorships and scoring graphics to monetize the broadcasts.

Munzing solved this by adopting Telestream Wirecast (upgrading to Wirecast 5) and a compact multi-camera, portable rig — MacBook Pro, handheld and fixed camcorders, GoPro, Blackmagic switching/capture gear, wireless mics and cellular backup via iPad — streaming directly to Brightcove and Livestream. The approach enabled over 75 events in 2013, including playoff and championship games, produced TV-quality webcasts with sponsor integrations, and delivered measurable viewer and advertiser satisfaction that supported growth and continued operations.
