A Telestream Case Study
Mitch Jacobson, owner and executive producer of Category-5 Studios in New York and a veteran multi‑camera editor for major artists and broadcasters, needed to capture, digitize and edit multi‑cam events on extremely tight timelines. Faced with six‑camera, 90‑minute shoots and live publicity events (notably an Elton John concert and a Guitar Hero launch in Times Square), he required a workflow that would let him start editing immediately rather than waiting for full ingest.
He deployed Telestream Pipeline’s direct‑to‑disk multi‑cam ingest while editing solution, ganging and time‑syncing units to record multiple streams to a single Mac and dropping markers into Final Cut as the performance unfolded. The team cut packages during the live events, delivered a news package within an hour, met quick‑turnaround deadlines, lowered setup time and costs, and gained a clear competitive advantage for same‑day multi‑cam projects.
