ITV Daytime Migrates Its Post Production and Media Archive Workflows to The Cloud with Telestream

ITV Daytime, which produces 7.5 hours of live UK television daily, faced a major challenge modernizing a large, tape-based archive and enabling remote post-production. Reliant on an ageing LTO tape robot, the team suffered frequent tape failures, slow retrievals and a single point of failure—issues that became critical when COVID-19 forced rapid adoption of remote editing and uninterrupted 24x7 operations.

ITV deployed Telestream’s Kumulate content-management and Vantage processing platforms with Microsoft Azure to replicate on-prem media to the cloud, automatically check assets into Avid, and transcode incoming formats. The result: much faster, more reliable access, successful cloud-based editing workflows (including a fully cloud-edited 10-episode series), elimination of many tape failures, and a planned move to a fully cloud archival model with ongoing exploration of AI metadata tagging.
