ITV, the UK’s largest commercial broadcaster, set out to become a fully file-based, multi-platform business delivering content across linear, catch-up and VOD services. With production moving from tape to AVC‑Intra and growing demand for fast turnaround on live and near‑live shows (including post‑broadcast edits for interactive features), ITV needed a scalable, enterprise transcoding solution it did not yet have in-house.

ITV deployed Telestream Vantage across two processor farms (GPU-accelerated and data‑centre based) to transcode AVC‑Intra into playout and multiple online/mobile formats, automate EDL-based edits, and consume DPP metadata for consistent processing. The solution now handles hundreds to thousands of files daily, brought all catch-up encoding in‑house, and delivered measurable gains in speed, quality, cost-efficiency and scalability — allowing ITV to start small and expand with strong vendor support.
