How Shelby County Schools uses Wirecast to live stream graduations and events

Shelby County Schools (SCS), the 19th largest U.S. school district with over 100,000 students and 8,000 teachers, needed a simple, user-friendly and cost-effective way to produce and stream live HD video of school events—like games, board meetings and graduations—so faculty, students and community members could easily create and view programming. The district’s Broadcast Services team required a workflow that was easy to learn, easy to configure and affordable enough to deploy across many schools.

SCS chose Telestream Wirecast and a straightforward hardware setup, which proved reliable and simple enough for students to operate after minimal training. Using Wirecast they live-streamed 36 graduations across six locations (sometimes concurrently), growing the audience to 64,502 families (up from 42,000) and making events available live and on demand for the community.
