How Meredith’s broadcast TV group uses Facebook Live to extend their reach and connect with viewers

Meredith Corporation’s broadcast television group — which owns 15 stations, reaches about 12 million U.S. households and produces more than 700 hours of local news weekly — faced the industry-wide shift from appointment TV to social and mobile viewing. Leadership directed stations to use Facebook Live to reach new viewers, engage audiences outside normal newscasts and deliver branded, trustworthy news on social platforms, creating a need for a fast, reliable, easy-to-use, and uniform streaming solution across multiple markets.

Meredith deployed Telestream’s Wirecast Gear (supported by its existing Vantage workflow) in a rapid 60-day rollout to provide multi-input switching, graphics and branding, and one-click Facebook Live integration. The integrated appliances enabled stations to stream breaking news, simulcasts and promos with consistent production quality, reduced operational overhead, faster time-to-air and easier staff training — expanding Meredith’s social reach and improving engagement while simplifying media processing and distribution.
