A Telestream Case Study
Brigham Young University–Idaho, a private university of over 15,000 students, faced a rapid increase in faculty‑produced video for courses and campus programming—13,000 new assets in a single year—coming in dozens of formats and destined for different delivery paths (online, LMS, broadcast). The video team needed an automated, scalable workflow that ensured consistent quality across resolutions, frame rates and codecs while meeting special format requirements for departments and TV distribution.
BYU‑Idaho deployed two Telestream Vantage Transcode systems paired with Lightspeed GPU servers and Vantage Analysis, using watch‑folder automation and more than 70 predefined workflows to transcode, correct and package files (primarily to H.264) and deliver them to Kaltura and the BrainHoney LMS. The solution dramatically increased productivity and scalability—enabling the university to process thousands of assets per year, save staff time, produce low‑res proxies for archives, and meet varied departmental and broadcast format needs.
