Amherst Middle School Uses Wirecast to Produce Live Morning TV Newscasts

Amherst Middle School’s Amherst Tech TV program gives every one of its 700 students a chance to produce “Live at 9:05,” a five-minute morning newscast. Teacher Rob Zdrojewski needed an affordable, easy-to-use live production solution that could handle real-time greenscreen keying and graphics, work within restrictive school IT policies, and be simple enough for students of all skill levels to operate.

They implemented Telestream Wirecast on a compact MacBook Pro-based setup (camera, converter, mixer and mics), using production templates and a “set-and-forget” studio workflow so student teams can quickly prepare and broadcast. The result is a reliable daily live show streamed to YouTube and distributed on-campus, giving students hands-on broadcast experience, enhancing school communication, and earning local and national recognition for the program.
