Telemundo 2012 Elections Coverage with Social and Polling to Air

Telemundo worked with Telescope to enhance its 2012 U.S. election coverage by bringing real-time social engagement and audience participation into its on-air programming. The network needed a way to manage large volumes of Twitter activity, curate relevant social content, and connect live polling with broadcast visuals using Telescope’s Connect Live, Social Vote, and Content to Air products.

Telescope’s platform processed and moderated Twitter data in real time, allowing Telemundo producers to approve posts for air and run topical Twitter polls that were displayed alongside broadcast graphics through a Chyron integration. The campaign was a strong success, helping Telemundo win two Social TV Awards and become the only Spanish-language broadcast network to increase election night viewership versus 2008, including a 30% rise in total viewers and a 24% increase among adults 18–49.
