The NBA and WNBA needed a new way to engage fans during the COVID-19 season suspension and the return to play, while audiences were watching from home. Telescope helped power the “Tap to Cheer” experience using its Passion Meter, Social Vote, and Custom Play-Along Hub products.
Telescope created a custom online and in-app play-along experience where fans could tap or click to cheer for teams, with a landing page for game access and schedules plus Twitter hashtag aggregation for added interaction and stadium graphics. The result was strong fan participation, including more than 4 million cheers during the WNBA launch weekend and #LakeShow trending on Twitter for the Lakers’ season opener, while fans kept returning to the experience game after game.
