Capitol Records wanted to engage superfans of Mamma Mia! and drive sales for the forthcoming Mamma Mia 2 soundtrack. Telescope used its Smart Speakers Applications product to create a simple Alexa skill built around a “finish the lyric” game for fans.
Telescope’s Alexa skill played a 10-second clip from a song and asked users to complete the lyric, with responses processed in real time and an option to buy the soundtrack by voice. The campaign generated thousands of downloads and tens of thousands of gameplays, and the soundtrack climbed to No. 3 on the Billboard charts the week after launch.
