How SXSW Uses TelemetryTV'S Digital Signage Software

SXSW, the large annual music, technology, and film festival in Austin, needed a better way to manage massive crowd flows and avoid problems like ticket fraud and overcrowding. They partnered with TelemetryTV and adopted TelemetryTV’s real-time data visualization/digital signage SaaS to tap into RFID reader metadata and turn it into actionable time-series metrics.

Using TelemetryTV’s API, the SXSW RFID team built real-time dashboards that showed when venues were reaching capacity and which ticket-holder segments were attending events. TelemetryTV’s visualizations were shared with operations staff so teams could adjust on-the-ground support in real time, improving crowd management and operational response—“understanding our crowd flows is vital,” said SXSW’s Director of Technology Scott Wilcox.
