Migration for improved Patient Satisfaction

Spire Healthcare, a UK private hospital group operating 36 hospitals, needed to quickly and securely migrate patient records and core software off BUPA’s servers after acquisitions and to replace the legacy STAR patient-management system before it reached end-of-life. Facing tight timeframes, rapidly increased storage and application-delivery demands, and the need to protect sensitive patient data, Spire engaged Telehouse as its secure hosting partner to manage the migration and infrastructure requirements.

Telehouse provisioned fast, secure capacity in its Telehouse North datacentre and supported a £14 million migration that implemented an Oracle SUN server cluster and enabled Spire’s new SAP Patient, Financial and Logistics Management Solution. The partnership cut the expected three-year project to 18 months, the SAP system went live on 1 April 2013 serving 1,600 concurrent users, hospital IT satisfaction reached 91%, and Spire is now considering further server consolidation with Telehouse.
