Sapienza University of Rome monitors 300+ plant species with TEKTELIC

The Sapienza University of Rome faced the challenge of modernizing its 12-hectare botanical garden, home to over 3,000 plant species. They needed a reliable and cost-effective solution to continuously monitor diverse soil and environmental conditions in real-time to optimize growth and manage different watering schedules for hundreds of plant species. TEKTELIC, alongside partners Unidata and DAMA Studio Association, provided its IoT solutions, including the TEKTELIC KIWI sensor, to address this need.

TEKTELIC implemented a LoRaWAN®-based smart garden system utilizing a suite of sensors to monitor key metrics like soil moisture, temperature, humidity, and CO2 levels. The solution provides accurate real-time data displayed on a user-friendly dashboard, enabling the garden to control water consumption, monitor plant health, and optimize growth conditions. TEKTELIC's technology helped ensure the botanical garden thrives by maintaining ideal environmental conditions for all its species.
