EIS, Inc., the largest distributor of electrical/electronic materials in the U.S., needed a better way to produce package labels from its SAP system on IBM AS/400 computers. The company had to serve hundreds of customers with frequent label changes, and existing labeling methods were too slow, complex, and dependent on specialized SAP script expertise. TEKLYNX and its CODESOFT label design software were brought in through system integrator Imcorp to address the challenge.

TEKLYNX provided CODESOFT with an Imcorp-designed printer object file template that let EIS design labels visually and automatically generate SAP script for host-based printing. The solution supported multiple printer brands and distributed printing across 53 EIS sites, while cutting label creation time from as much as three days to about four hours. TEKLYNX also helped EIS reduce training needs and avoid hiring additional SAP script specialists, delivering a reliable and relatively inexpensive labeling process.
