A Tegrity Case Study
Western Kentucky University (WKU) needed to expand its international reach by growing its online education offerings but faced two main challenges: making faculty comfortable teaching online and giving busy students flexible ways to engage with lectures (review segments, search, bookmark, ask questions, and print visuals) without extra appointments or administrative overhead.
WKU implemented Tegrity lecture-capture—initially for distance learners and later expanded university-wide after strong student demand—because it was easy for faculty to use and offered advanced student tools. The system improved note-taking, enabled recorded student presentations, and increased convenience; online enrollment grew from about 2,000 in 2003 to 27,000 in 2010 (a 1,250% increase), growth that WKU’s distance-learning leadership attributes in part to Tegrity.
