A Tegrity Case Study
William Paterson University, a public liberal arts institution in New Jersey with over 11,000 students, faced varied instructional challenges as faculty sought better ways to support discipline-specific learning needs—students often lacked basic software skills, struggled to follow complex, board-written math derivations, needed repeated exposure to language sounds, and required multiple explanations for advanced concepts. Having piloted and expanded lecture capture since 2003, the university looked for ways to make instruction more accessible and improve student outcomes across courses.
Faculty adopted Tegrity’s lecture-capture tools in tailored ways—creating supplemental software tutorials, recording document-camera problem walk-throughs, capturing dialect examples, and posting full explanations for review. Usage grew organically and delivered measurable benefits: more lectures viewed, higher average GPAs for students with access, and strong survey results (about 81% reporting deeper learning, 63% reporting increased course success, 72.7% saying they’d request recorded lectures, and 90.9% recommending the tool to peers).
