Increase enrollment, student retention and success with lecture capture as a web service

Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, a multi-campus institution serving about 5,600 students, wanted to increase enrollment and visibility while improving student retention and learning through better use of instructional technology. After piloting options in 2006, leaders identified lecture capture as the next step to support classroom learning and supplemental study for adult and traditional students across campuses and off-site locations.

The university deployed Tegrity Campus 2.0, integrated with Blackboard, with a rapid rollout and minimal onsite training; cameras and capture tools record lectures, slides and tablet work for on-demand replay. Adoption grew quickly — over 700 students and 32 full‑time faculty were using the system, generating 3,500 hits and 735 viewing hours — and reporting showed struggling students who used Tegrity moved from C to C+ or B, while faculty refined teaching practices and used recordings for review and study sessions.
