ATU Embraces Distance Learning and Finds that Tegrity Uniquely Bene!ts its International Students

Arkansas Tech University (ATU), a growing public university with two campuses and over 10,000 students including a sizable international population, needed a lecture-capture solution that could be implemented quickly, scale affordably, integrate with Blackboard, and support diverse teaching styles without heavy hardware. The university sought a cloud-based, user-friendly platform to launch an institution-wide distance learning program and improve learning for students—particularly international learners in quantitative courses.

ATU deployed Tegrity in 2010, creating dedicated recording classrooms and mobile carts and enabling faculty to capture and share lectures (including a slow-down audio feature used heavily by international students). Results included strong student approval (83% said it improved learning; ~60% would take another course with lecture capture), a drop in failing grades in one course from seven to one, a 5% rise in A’s, and broad adoption across campus (200+ faculty, 255 Blackboard courses, 2,488 recordings and over 20,000 student views), while attendance remained steady.
