Pivoting to Flexible, Remotely Hosted EHR

Val Verde Regional Medical Center, a nonprofit acute care hospital, faced the challenge of implementing a new MEDITECH Expanse EHR without sufficient internal resources, personnel, or expertise. They also needed to overcome internal resistance to change and accelerate their timeline to support their pandemic response. To meet this need, they partnered with vendor Tegria for a secure, remotely hosted EHR solution in the cloud.

Tegria provided a cloud-hosted EHR and worked with the hospital to implement critical technologies on a highly accelerated schedule. Key solutions, including telehealth visits and point-of-care devices for nurses, were launched in just 30 days instead of a planned two years. Tegria also helped implement a remote patient monitoring system in 30 days, which was critical for managing patients at home during the pandemic. The hospital expected to recover the full cost of the new devices and begin seeing financial gains within one year of implementation.
