Fully Integrated MEDITECH EHR Enhances Patient Care

Valley Health System, a nonprofit health system, sought to enhance patient care by upgrading from its legacy MEDITECH MAGIC system to a fully integrated MEDITECH 6.1 EHR. Their challenge was to implement this new platform to provide real-time, integrated data for clinicians and financial staff, aiming to meet their technology and standardization needs for the future. They engaged the vendor Tegria to manage this implementation.

Tegria implemented the full MEDITECH suite using a four-phase training approach that included extensive at-the-elbow support. Key outcomes included dramatically improved physician adoption of order entry and charting tools, 100% electronic identification of septic patients, 98% flu vaccine compliance, and significant time savings for nurses, saving over 30 minutes per nurse per shift in some units.
