Increases Throughput And Expands Storage Capacity

Brigham Young University Hawaii needed to modernize its aging storage environment to improve throughput, expand capacity, and support a rapidly growing VMware-based data center without increasing budget or hardware footprint. The university evaluated several options and chose Tegile’s hybrid storage solution, including Tegile HA2300 systems for primary storage and a Tegile HA2100 for backup, to better support critical applications like Microsoft Exchange, Oracle, and student systems.

Tegile implemented IntelliFlash-based storage with de-duplication, compression, and snapshot capabilities, replacing legacy IBM storage and tape backup. The result was 100 to 120 terabytes of usable disk space, a 25 to 40x throughput improvement on key systems, and noticeably faster email attachment performance for users. Tegile also helped the university improve backup and recovery while enabling more flexible load balancing and future expansion.
