Werner Electric Supply is a regional electrical distributor (about 400 employees, 28,000 SKUs) serving contractors, industrial customers and MROs with tight, same‑day or next‑morning delivery windows. Its distribution operation faced the dual challenges of a high‑mix inventory (including complex wire‑cutting requirements and multiple units of measure), short fulfillment cycles and a lean IT team needing a system that could support value‑added services and rapid change.

Werner implemented Tecsys’ Itopia platform (WMS, TMS and analytics) integrated with Dematic automation and a multi‑level pick module, with custom logic for wire footage marking and shortest‑length selection. The result: 99.9% accuracy on wire cuts, zero order backlog at day’s end, elimination of a secondary packing step, 60–70% of picks handled through the pick module (roughly 3,000–3,500 of 5,000 daily lines) and the ability to make on‑the‑fly adjustments that support faster fulfillment and future growth.
