TECSYS’ Optimization Consultants Deliver Optimum Slotting and Over 21% Increase in Warehouse Capacity to LifeScience Logistics

LifeScience Logistics (LSL) is a healthcare-focused 3PL that needed to expand and reconfigure a newly leased warehouse to support rapid commercial growth and add new customers. The facility’s original racking and layout weren’t designed for higher volumes or diverse pick profiles, leading to inefficient travel and picking times that limited throughput.

Tecsys’ optimization consultants performed a data-driven slotting and layout redesign—reworking racking, adding mezzanine and pick-module capacity, and reconfiguring conveyors—to align storage with item velocity and order profiles. The changes increased capacity by 708 pallets (21.6%), reduced square footage per pallet by 20.5% (freeing 1,470 sq. ft.), and enabled much higher pick rates (up to 150 lines/hour), resulting in faster order fulfillment, better on-time shipping and improved customer satisfaction.
